Is it the same situation with those characters and properties or could they potentially appear in the show? As fans who’ve read the original Invincible comics are aware, many of your other creator-owned superhero characters appear throughout the run like Brit, Astounding Wolf-Man, and Tech Jacket. Taimur Dar: As you’ve previously explained, the change from Science Dog in the comics to Séance Dog in the show is due to different property rights. Racioppa: I just assumed this happens when you work with Kirkman on anything! Moving into Season 2 we couldn’t be more excited to be back and be doing this all over again. We didn’t know how the first season would be received. Some of the violent elements that we incorporate are pretty intense and always there to drive story. I didn’t know how people would respond to this. Kirkman: The memes are super cool but also somewhat alien to this aged individual. Q: Has anything surprised you at this point? Racioppa: You also want the show to look better every season so there’s also that. You look back on Season 1 and go, “I can’t believe they started here and expanded to this point.” Things should get a little bit bigger and more intense as each season goes so momentum is a tough balancing act. Kirkman: The goal is that it’s an escalating show. The scope is still so big that even with the best team it’s tricky. We have an incredible production team who work their butts off. Everything needs to be thought up and designed and drawn. The amount of places we go and number of new characters we meet in Season 2. Rebuilding the show post-pandemic led to the big delay. Given that these are distinct properties (much like Science Dog, Seance Dog‘s original version in the comics), it is possible that we will see expies here too instead of the actual characters themselves.Robert Kirkman: I guess maintaining the momentum of what we did with Season 1. Fighting on the frontlines are some of Image Comics’ biggest names, such as Spawn (whom Mark claims he has killed before), Sara Pezzini from Witchblade, and Savage Dragon, among others. While Levy sends Invincible through a number of multiverses to weaken him, the character also inadvertently starts the Invincible War, a crossover event that sees the heroes of this world fight a host of alternative Mark Grayson, all of whom have embraced their Viltrumite heritage in one way or the other. From Avengers Assemble to Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, everything might be on the table if this is the route MArvel ends up taking. However, if some deal is worked out between Marvel and Amazon, such that Spider-Man and all the characters that appear in the issue (such as Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, and such) can appear in the show, it is highly likely that the characters that appear in the show might be more in line with any of Spider-Man’s animated properties than any of his live-action appearances. While it is completely possible that the Spider-Man arc could be completely cut from the show, it is also possible that the crossover could be still in place, just with a bunch of derivative, copyright-friendly characters than the actual ones who appeared in Marvel Comics. While crossovers are really common in comics (so much so that there is an entire universe of Marvel and DC characters merged together), it is much harder to do such crossovers in big properties on television or the internet. As this happens, Levy has also taken Mark’s mother hostage, who is still reeling from Omni-Man’s violent departure from the planet.Īlso Read: Steven Yeun’s Invincible Will Face Tough Competition if These 10 Superheroes Bag a Netflix Show Will we see Spider-Man make an appearance in Invincible Season 2?
